Classic Styx with a new edge. Some of the songs could easily be on Great Styx albums like Crystal Ball or Grand Illusion. Bravo to the band for giving die hard Styx fans like me a great new album that will bring in new fans too! I am proud to say both my teenage kids are huge Styx fans like their Mom & Dad. We never miss a concert when they are in So Cal! This is a must buy album for Styx & classic rock fans.
  • 45 years of excellence !!

It saddens me when people cannot find the accomplishment in a band of 45 years jumps back into the studio to record in an era when music and artists have changed so dramatically. This isn't a money grab, this is trying to reconnect with their legions of fans and give something to them, an opportunity to produce something that gets those creative juices going again...my hats off to the band, it's management for taking the risk on behalf of all of us ! With regards to the music, not a minute less than what attracted us to Styx 40 + years ago...

This is a fantastic album. I only wish it did not take so long to produce. I saw Styx in June at the Concord Pavilion. They opened with Gone Gone Gone. And in the middle of the set was Radio Silence. I hope the tour brings them back to the Bay Area and they perform this new album in its entirety. As for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What are you waiting for. Styx belongs there with all the great songs they have written. It's hard to believe that you put in the Beastie Boys and Joan Jett ahead of Styx. Two bands that truly aren't deserving. What were you guys thinking.

Really a 5 star but most never read those reviews, assuming they're paid bots. Really, really good throw back to the classic 70's sound. I wish there were more radio air play for new music from classic rock bands. Thank You Styx!!!!!!

The first album I brought when I got my first car was Grand Illusion. I was hooked. 40 years later with The Mission, I'm hooked again. The emotion is so real and cutting, you forget about the music and can feel the stories in several of the songs. Locomotive, Radio Silence and The Outpost are alive with emotion. The storyline is wonderful.

Saw these guys at jones beach theater and was introduced to the album live. Not only do the songs sound amazing live, but to play it in the car still makes the drive go quick! Recommend this album to anyone!

Simply put, what a fantastic album! The care and quality put into every song is evident from the beginning. Lawrence and Tommy really shine, though I wish there was a bit more of JY; the other players – with whom I am less familiar – also stand out with their respective instruments. Musically and lyrically, the recording sounds fantastic, is very upbeat, and truly has a sense of story. I wholeheartedly recommend this album for anyone who may be on the fence!
