  • 2017 and perhaps the decades most jaw-dropping film

    By K.rangZ
To put it clear and simple this is probably the most captivating movie I have ever seen. And with any good movie comes an incredible soundtrack.
  • Nice review by Darshan

Great opinion piece by Darshan— no bull just personal opinion and it’s appreciated.
  • The music fits the movie

There is the temptation to compare this score with the score for the first movie. That really doesn't seem fair. Some reviewers have noted that this score lacks strong themes. If you are looking for hummable themes, that is true. But in the context of Blade Runner 2049 it makes complete sense. You see, this movie is told through the eyes of the replicant, K (Joe). I imagine that a replicant's mental landscape would be more like the score that accompanies this movie: deep memories, guardedly summoned and not completely trusted. The only scene that is anything close to happy is the scene on balcony in the rain. And even then K is struggling to make a connection to Joi. The music unfolds on a subconscious level with a deep, wrenching quality. The musical themes in this movie are decidedly dark and sparse - notes rather than phrases. The songs from the scenes with Wallace (Wallace, Her Eyes Were Green) use something similar to Buddhist throat singing - an appropriately unworldly sound for sure. The few humans that we do encounter in the movie are toxic, cold or arrogant. With that in mind, the final song (Almost Human) is really quite ironic. The Sinatra and Presley songs are poignant, if not comical, given how different the world has become. The songs from the transit scenes (Flight to LAPD, Mesa, Pilot, and Sea Wall) are incredibly powerful and really help carry the movie forward with urgency. But the songs that leave the most lasting impression for me are the ones filled with longing (Sapper's Tree, Rain, Joi, and All the Best Memories Are Hers). These songs pick up the real theme of the movie: the desire to be complete.
  • Worth buying

Loved both movies and the Vangelis soundtrack. While this soundtrack is clearly different from the first, it’s a strong soundtrack and I was happy I bought it after a dozen listens now. Just make a playlist taking out the Elvis and Sinatra tracks and loop it over and over for a wonderful experience. If you loved the sound in the 2049 movie then you’ll more than likely love this too.
  • Drenched in dystopian atmosphere

    By Mars_Mezmerize
A powerful, cyber-enhanced, and melancholy, musical score. Ranges from quiet sadness to bombastic epicness. A few throwbacks to Vangelis himself and to the original Blade Runner as well.
  • UNIQUE & Fresh

    By Rocketpack
This soundtrack definitey has it's own tone; love it. Though I can't seem to find the music that was used on the 2049 trailers. Is that somewhere in the soundtrack?
  • Exceptional

This is so much more than a collection of "songs." It's a voluptuous mood bath.
  • Amazing music

    By Baxman44
As a huge fan of the original - this captures the essence of the new movie and more. Some very haunting themes. If you compare - it must be to the Blade Runner Trilogy album with its original and music inspired by - so many different components.
  • Perfection.

This is fantastic. Sublime. Perfect. This music is hauntingly beautiful and elevates everything onscreen. I can't recommend this enough.
