Essentially a DeYoung solo project
By Simi Dave
Having owned every single Styx record after discovering them between Crystal Ball and Grand Illusion, i was beyond ecstatic when this album came out. (so I'm writing this 23-1/2 years late…) How anyone could rate this beyond 3 stars is beyond me. Most rock-edge is gone; it's just DDY trying to salvage a sinking ship. Maybe you can go with Show Me the Way, but IMHO, once they came out with Babe, the sucking began. This didn't reign it in all.
this album rocks

grew up with this band and had heard Styx was getting back together but would be minus Tommy Shaw for this one...Glen Burtnik replaced him and did an excellent job on this album. my all-time favorite songs on this album is Love Is The Ritual, Show Me The Way, Edge Of The Century and Homewrecker really shows how a band plays together uniformly with not one instrument overpowering another...Dennis DeYoung produced it and he showed He can still produce. He did an excellent job showcasing this band keeping this band's sound alive but updating it...and Glen Burtnik was an excellent choice to replace Tommy during this album and tour
This album helped get me thru Desert storm's aftermath! being a devote Journey fan, it was this album that saw me thru, every song on this album touched on something. Im not a big STYX fan however this album is great!

this album is a great show of what styx is. One of the greatest band in the 80's. Show me the way is my personal favorite songs. on this album. i love styx man they are great love them.
My favorite album of Styx!!
Unlike many of my peers, I never got into Styx in the seventies. I had heard Mr. Roboto on the radio but didn't know anything about them. So I bought this album and it reminded me of Journey and REO Speedwagon, both of which I liked. Later I found out that this was Dennis DeYoung's attempt to revive the band which had split up several years earlier. (Behind the Music) Despite that fact, I still like it. I liked Love is the Ritual, Show Me the Way, Edge of the Century, and Not Dead Yet. World Tonite and Carrie Ann were pretty good, too. If you are a big fan of their 70's work, you may not like this album. But if you like REO Speedwagon and Journey, you will love this album.
Glen Burtnik Who replaced Tommy Shaw Did very well and Dennis Deyoung was very inspirational, however i really did miss James "JY" Young as he only hade one song on here but still my favorite album!
What about Crrie Ann?
I would like to add the song Carrie Ann as one of the Best of this album. Styx RULES
4 songs that show Styx is the greatest band ever
1. Love is the Ritual
2. Show Me the Way
4. Back to Chicago
STYX one of the best bands ever
Show me the way is the best song on this album and one of the best all time
